Construction: the Division reviews building plans for the construction & renovation of commercial & public building projects; conducts inspections of plumbing, electrical and structural systems.
Mechanical systems: the Division inspects mechanical systems including steam engines and boilers, hydronics, escalators, elevators and the lifts inside structures for wind turbines;
Maintenance: The Division provides testing and inspection of bedding, upholstered furniture and stuffed toys; annual inspection of ski lifts and roller skating rinks.
Wage & Hour: the Division investigates complaints related to the Ohio minimum wage, prevailing wage and the employment of minors in Ohio.
The Division of Industrial Compliance serves Ohio’s citizens, workers and industrial components. To ensure a safe environment and improve the quality of life for Ohioans, the Division approves construction plans, oversees maintenance and inspects items varying from buildings to bedding, while creating a job-friendly environment.

Building Code Compliance (BCC) performs plan reviews and job-site inspections for all commercial building projects not under jurisdiction of a local certified building department, and all buildings constructed at Ohio’s state universities. Smaller projects that do not require sealed plans can be submitted for approval and inspections. Inspections without sealed plans
Once a year, every escalator in Ohio receives a complete “tear-down” inspection where the internal workings are examined, tested and secured for another year of service. The same escalators get a mid-year performance test to check for operational issues. Request an escalator or elevator inspection.
