SFM FORENSIC LABORATORY MISSION

The mission of the SFM Forensic Laboratory is to safeguard the Public from the criminal use of fire and explosives by providing reliable and timely forensic services to fire and law enforcement agencies throughout Ohio.

Services are provided in the form of scientific examinations of ignitable liquids, fire debris, explosives, latent fingerprints, and general examination of any physical evidence involved in a suspected arson fire, explosive incident, hazardous situation, or other criminal activity. The laboratory issues a written report including findings and opinions as to the nature of the submitted evidence. Laboratory examiners may be asked to testify in court about laboratory findings.
