FIRE AND EXPLOSION INVESTIGATIONS BUREAU DUTIES

The Ohio Revised Code established the FEIB under the following sections with the described duties;
ORC 3737.22 The Fire Marshal shall do the following:
- Conduct investigations into the cause, origin, and circumstances of fires and explosions, and prosecute persons believed to be guilty of arson or a similar crime
- The Fire Marshal shall create the Fire and Explosion Investigations Bureau
ORC 3737.24 The Fire Marshal shall:
- Investigate to determine carelessness or design
- The Fire Marshal may superintend the investigation
- May enter any time day or night any building or premises, adjoining, or near thereto, where a fire occurred
ORC 3737.25 The Fire Marshal shall:
- Take or cause to be taken on oath
- Testimony of all persons cognizant of any facts
- Or persons with means or knowledge in relation to the matter
- Cause such testimony to be reduced to writing
ORC 3737.26 The Fire Marshal shall;
- If opinion of sufficient evidence to charge
- Arrest, or cause to be arrested
- Charge with such offense
- Shall furnish the prosecuting attorney:
- Evidence
- Names of witnesses
- Copy of material testimony
