Divisions & Programs
The Ohio Department of Commerce is the state’s chief regulatory agency. We protect people, property, and assets through our work with businesses.
The agency has seven divisions: Financial Institutions, Industrial Compliance, Liquor Control, Real Estate & Professional Licensing, Securities, State Fire Marshal, and Unclaimed Funds. We also are home to three significant programs: Manufactured Homes, Medical Marijuana Control, and Video Service Authorization.
Commerce is not funded through the state’s General Revenue Fund, we are self-supported through fees. Our agency issues nearly 600,000 licenses, permits, registrations and certifications each year in various professions, industries, and commercial enterprises.
