Laboratory Designation Application

The state of Ohio now accepts applications from laboratories that wish to become approved as a designated testing laboratory.  One criterion is that the laboratory must have the ability to test blended fiber products and report the findings to our office.  The laboratories are located both in the United States and internationally.  Blended fibers are typically found in mattresses, but also appear in filling materials for pillow shams and quilts and a few other products.   If you’re a manufacturer of products that contain blended fibers, you’ll want to contact an approved designated laboratory to have them tested. You can learn more about that process in our FAQ. For a complete list of these laboratories, please click here. Additionally, if you are aware of a testing laboratory that currently performs these types of tests, please refer them to our website for instructions on how to apply.

If you are a lab that would like to become an approved testing laboratory by the Ohio Department of Commerce, you can submit an application and supporting documentation that confirms your credentials and testing qualifications through the form on the right. Approved laboratory designation is valid for 2 years from the date of approval and the designee must reapply at least 30 days prior to the expiration date.
