The testing of marijuana products is a core component to product safety. By sampling from every batch of medical marijuana product before it may be sold to a dispensary, testing laboratories ensure medical marijuana products are free of contaminants that could potentially have negative effects on the health of patients.
Patient safety is always the highest priority. Each licensed facility is under video surveillance, with multiple in-person inspections occurring throughout the year to ensure compliance. Ohio Admin. Code 3796:4-2-02 requires testing laboratories to undergo proficiency testing which measure the competence of each individual laboratory and is used to assess performance. The MMCP is implementing several initiatives that will increase testing accuracy and compliance. These initiatives include, performing data and lab documentation audits, establishing new compliance protocols, and reconfiguration of METRC.
The MMCP continuanly educates licensees on the Ohio Administrative Code, produces policies and guidance materials, and offers multiple training sessions. This section is intended to be a one-stop place for information that is important to MMCP licensees. Scroll down for important testing laboratory licensee resources.
