The Department of Commerce, Division of Financial Institutions is committed to supporting financial literacy for children, young adults, and adults within Ohio through the Financial Literacy Grant Program.
The Financial Literacy Education Fund was created in 2008 to support various financial literacy education programs developed and implemented to benefit Ohioans. The Financial Literacy Education Fund is financed through a quarterly transfer of five percent of all charges, penalties, and forfeitures levied by the Division of Financial Institutions' Consumer Finance section. The monies in this fund are used to provide competitive grant awards to entities offering financial literacy programs in Ohio.
Grant awards are given annually at the discretion of the director of Commerce and there is a total of $75,000 awarded during each funding cycle.
Information regarding the grant program for the year is generally released in February. Check back for updates regarding future funding cycles.
